What We Do

Whether a new building or renovation, SpaceCamp will deliver a set of drawings that is legible, concise, and buildable. We tailor each contract to fit the client, and we follow a structured design path from idea to construction that looks like this:

Pre-Design > Schematic-Design > Design-Development > Stamped Construction Documents > Construction Administration

Pre-Design If necessary, SpaceCamp can assist you in envisioning your dream home. Pre-Design is a time to explore the land, explore views and talk openly about what the home will mean to you. This is the time to evaluate environmental factors related to your building site including solar orientation, driving wind direction and the flora and fauna of a place. All this will culminate in a package that shows a few options of where a building may go, what it may look like and how it will be placed on the ground.

Schematic Design SpaceCamp will evaluate the feasibility and direction for the project based on local codes, site constraints and program requirements. In this phase, design, methods of construction, team members, the budget and priorities are discussed and determined. The Schematic Design set will include drawings as necessary to convey the overall project intent, including but not limited to plans, sections, elevations and 3D views. Once the owner has confirmed the project scope, budget and estimated timeline, SpaceCamp will begin Design Development.

Design Development In this phase, SpaceCamp will begin coordinating the drawings with consultants, including the structural engineer and any specialists as necessary in preparation for Construction Documents. The Design Development set may include but is not limited to: site plan, building floor plan, RCPs, roof plan, building elevations, building sections, interior elevation and wall sections.â—‹ The length of the Design Development phase depends on the specifics of the project and the process of communication between SpaceCamp, the owner and consultants.

Bid Set The Bid Set will include drawings as necessary to convey the scope of the project for pricing. This will include drawings from Design Development, with the addition of details, window and door schedules, fixture schedules and finish schedules.

Construction Documents This drawing set will incorporate any feedback or revisions to the Bid Set based on pricing and conversations with the owner and contractors. This drawing set will be stamped with an architect’s seal, The drawings will be provided as PDF digital sets, and scaled to be printed. SpaceCamp will provide the owner with a printed copy of both the Bid Set and Construction Document Set.

Construction Administration During construction, SpaceCamp will answer questions, observe work, and clarify the drawing set as necessary.
